As for me, the location was peaceful, near the race course park filled with avenue of tall trees, town centre and a large square surrounded by more Georgian buildings the stalls. Cafe Vintage Retreat Tea Rooms located 1 mi away was a nice surprise. There were TV, a fridge, coffee and tea making equipment in my queen room. It was tidy and the bed comfortable, so I slept well.

Fairly clean place, welcoming service, professional and attentive staff. Cosy and cheap unit with walk in wardrobes, dedicated staff. Plenty of cereals, toast and tea at breakfast. Nice place for exploring Northampton.

Ideal spot for a family getaway
The family room was spacious, and the patio door made it easy to bring in our luggage without hassle. Plus, the breakfast was marvelous, set out great with a full English spread that really got me going for the day.
Wasn't exactly cheap, but alright I guess.

The first floor room had a persistent smell of mold. Cleanliness was an issue, particularly in the bathroom, where the tiles appeared shabby. The elderly receptionist was notably unwelcoming.

My wife and I took my 87 year old mother to visit Althorpe and stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. On arrival the owner Mary was very friendly and helpful and even gave my mother her room number in case she needed anything during the night. Our rooms were excellent and had plenty of storage space for clothes and bags. The hotel is ran by Mary and her family in a very friendly and efficient manner, nothing is a problem and you would struggle to get a better full English breakfast anywhere else. I would certainly stay at the hotel again if we are ever in the area for a holiday. On a personal note I would thoroughly recommend the draught Czech beer (5%), it certainly had a kick!!
